This survey states that most people are indifferent to religious influence over our country. Some are already interpreting these results to mean that the majority of the nation wants our government to be influenced more by religion (or are fine with how much influence it currently exerts). But, for the few logic minded of you out there, let’s analyze the initial question:

Would you like to see organized religion have more influence in this nation, less influence, or keep its influence as it is now?

See how vague of a result we actually have to work with here? You can draw several conclusions, ranging from issues of morality to actual religious influence. Included within these, that devout Muslims and Jews would like their organized religions to be more influential, as opposed to the assumed Christianity (or, in the case of Neo-Conservatism, Christio-insanity), or even would like to see more societal influence, but not necessarily governmental. Those who are indifferent could actually represent people who just didn’t give a shit either way, or they could represent people who always vote incumbent and merely like to support the status quo. In fact, the only remotely reasonable conclusion that can be drawn from these results is that 32% of those surveyed would like to see organized religion have less of an overall influence, and even that could mean a myriad of things…

The Gallup Poll: useless views in neat percentages.
